Harry Potter Book Series Review

My all time favorite book and movie series is Harry Potter. I've watched and read these movies ever since I was in elementary school. Although, when I was in elementary school I only read the first 4 books and then I stopped. The same thing happened with the movies up until the last few years I've finally seen all 8 eight movies multiple times, and I read and listened to all the books this past year. I absolutely LOVE the books and movies but there is so much detail in the books. So I wanted to do a review on the books for this post! If you've never read these books or seen the movies and don't want any spoilers, I would stop reading this post now and go check out the books or movies for yourself!

The first book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, or Philosophers Stone for the UK version. This is the beginning of the Harry Potter and Wizarding World Universe. This is the new beginning in Harry's life and when he discovers who he is and makes friendships that last a life time. This book is special because it's the first one. Harry and his friends are so young and they are all just figuring out who they are, how to do magic and in the middle of it all, defeating Voldemort. I love this book because it brings you back to the beginning of it all.

Book two, Chamber of Secrets. In this book, we start seeing the friendship between Harry, Hermione and Ron continue to get stronger. They start taking more risks for each other and making more sacrifices. We also experience Tom Riddle for the first time and Harry destroys his first horcurx without actually knowing it yet. Although they are only second years, Harry, Hermione and Ron are actively making more and more grown up decisions while still trying to experience Hogwarts and it's magic as a student and a child.

Book three, Prisoner of Askaban. In this book we meet Professor Lupin, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew, three of the Mauraders. Professor Lupin and Sirius Black become crowd favorites by the end of this book and we discover Sirius has been falsely imprisoned. We also discover that Peter Pettigrew was the friend of James and Lily that betrayed them and costs them their lives. But, that isn't all Harry discovers in this book. Harry gains a Godfather, Sirius Black, Jame's and Lily's greatest friend. He tells Harry that one day they can live together and be a proper family. Harry is thrilled to have another family member, one that lives in the wizarding world, one that doesn't ridicule him and bully him.

Book four, The Goblet of Fire. This is the longest book in the series and one of the most important books. Voldemort returns. Harry is entered into the triwizard tournament and becomes a triwizard champion. But throughout the book there are so many more trials and tribulations to face. Harry and Ron have their first fight and Hermione is caught in the middle. The rest of the school is taunting Harry and on top of all of this, Harry is the youngest triwizard champion. By the end of the book, Harry loses a friend and Voldemort returns.

Book five, Order of the Phoenix. In book five, Harry is introduced to the Order of the Phoenix. A private society created by Dumbledore in the last wizarding war against Voldemort. Harry cannot be part of the Order because he is still a minor but longs to be part of it. This is one of the saddest books yet. We take a glimpse into Professor Snape's memories of his past, Harry learns more about his parents, and he loses his Godfather, Sirius Black during a duel in the Ministry of Magic. This is one of the most trying books for Harry and his team. And meanwhile, Professor Umbridge is taking over Hogwarts. I would have to say, she may be worse than Voldemort and Bellatrix. But on the bright side, Dumbledore's Army is established.

Book six, Half-Blood Prince. Harry is learning a lot about himself during this book. He falls in love, learns more about potions to assist him in his path to becoming an Auror, and he finds out more about Voldemort's horcrux's. This is also an extremely sad book because we lose our beloved headmaster to Snape, but it's not what it seems. Although Dumbledore dies, this is one of my favorite books.

Book seven, The Deathly Hallows. This book is super slow to begin with but speeds up closer towards the end. There are a few happy moments but for the most part this book keeps you on the edge of your seat. Harry and Voldemort finally come face to face once again in a duel. Harry and his team have destroyed all the horcuxes and it's time for Harry to finally end Voldemort for good, and he does. Harry has also lost a lot of loved ones during the battle of Hogwarts and will never forget it. It is finished, it is over and all he can do now is hold the one's he loves most, close to him.

Although, Cursed Child is not part of this series I am going to include it because I did read it this past year and it's 19 years later. I loved reading about Harry and his family and friends 19 years later. It was a really good way to meet his children and see more into their future. Cursed Child is written like a play because the authors only intended it to be a play. If you're looking for more closure or more of the Harry Potter Universe, read Cursed Child. I highly recommend it.

That's it for now! I hope you've enjoyed my review of the Harry Potter series! If you've never had the chance to read them or watch them, I suggest doing it! If you have please leave a comment below telling me your favorite book or movie or both!
