Importance of Self-Care

Hey everyone! Today I wanted to talk about self-care and why it’s more than just face-masks and bath bombs.

Self-care can look like many different things and is definitely different for everyone. Self-care is a vital part of managing everyday life, stress, busyness and just a way to re-center and relax. No matter who you are or what you have going on in life, we all need a little self-care. So, I’ve compiled a list of self-care activities you can do. These range from anything to journaling, sleeping, or even making a doctor’s appointment. Taking care of ourselves is important because if we aren’t taking care of ourselves then we aren’t able to take care of other people in the best way possible and it can be hard for us to get other tasks and work done when we aren’t feeling our best. So, take a look at the list below and let me know what kind of self-care you do or if you’re going to try one of the things listed!

1. Getting a good night’s rest

2. Taking a power nap (approx. 28-32 minutes according to NASA)

3. Deep breathing exercises

4. Meditation

5. Mindfulness practices

6. Reading a book

7. Exercise

8. Listening to music you love

9. Watching a new movie

10. Watching a movie, you love

11. Spending time with friends

12. Spending time with family

13. Going to the park

14. Sitting in the sunshine

15. Making a doctor’s appointment for a check-up

16. Eating a healthy meal and/or snack

17. Calling or texting a friend you haven’t heard from in a while

18. Meeting a friend for lunch

19. Taking a day off

20. Doing a craft

21. Yoga

22. Working on your skincare routine; using a new face mask

23. Buying a new outfit

24. Paying off your credit cards or other debt

25. Draw

26. Write

27. Paint

28. Stretch

29. Try a new activity

30. Spend time in nature

31. Check something off your bucket list

32. Go to a spa

33. Have a spa night at home

34. Get a facial

35. Get your hair done

36. Get your nails done

37. Wear sunscreen when you’re in the sun

38. Give someone a hug

39. Spend time with your significant other

40. Accomplish a small goal you have set for yourself

These are just a few ideas that I have come up with and some I have personally tried myself. Everyone is different and prefers different things so feel free to try what you’d like and come up with new ideas that you are interested in!
