Vintage Pickin' - Alabama 2019

Writer's picture: nestledlivingnestledliving

For my birthday last year I wanted to go to this antique, vintage market called Vintage Pickin'. I found out about this event from the owner, April, on Instagram (@Vintagepickin). April has been hosting and curating this event for a few years now and this was the first year I was able to go. She hosts a few events a year and some are at her house on a ton of land. We went in September 2019 and it was so much fun!!

We only live about 2 hours from Fyffe, Alabama so we just woke up early Saturday morning and drove. The event opened at 10:00am and it was packed with vendors for antiques, food, sweet tea and all kinds of things!

We walked around and shopped for a few hours and then go some of THE BEST sweet tea from The Alabama Sweet Tea Company (instagram: @alabamasweettea) and THE BEST fruit tea from Fruit Tea Chicks (Instagram: @fruitteachicks) and some really good kettle corn!

We found a few really cool vintage and antique items as well as some homemade jewelry and of course Vintage Pickin' t-shirts and hats! I love my VP stuff!

I absolutely LOVED this event and I can't wait to go back this year (March 2020). I will definitely take more pictures at the next event.

Here are a few things we picked up!

T-shirt & Hat: @Vintagepickin

Glass Mason Jar: @alabamasweettea

Fruit Tea Cup: @fruitteachicks

Homemade Vanilla Extract: @thevintageworkshop_mjs

The goblets: @vintagemarketdays

Tickets to the event: $14 per person just for Satuday

*There are always combo deals and early pickin' prices for Friday and Saturday.

If you get the chance to go I would highly suggest bringing enough cash to spend at all the vendors and to buy food. Most of the food vendors do not take card.

I would also suggest wearing tennis shoes because you will be doing a lot of walking around. Wear a backpack purse or some form of fanny pack that is easily accessible for the ladies and bring your own bottle of water and a reusable bag to use for all your smaller items you may want to buy.

If you are planning or looking for bigger items like furniture and art pieces, you can bring a wagon but keep in mind you cannot bring the wagon inside the booths because it will cause crowding and could prevent others from shopping or buying their items.

You can bring strollers if you have children but the same sort of thing applies if you're going into booths. So, bring a friend or your husband to help watch strollers or wagons.

April plans really well and there are always volunteers to help move and load heavier and larger items to your car! So, if you're searching for those large items don't feel discouraged to buy them because there is always help when it comes to moving and loading while you're at VP!

April has also been doing Instagram meet ups with herself and other vintage and antique loving ladies! So, if you're interested in this, be sure to follow @Vintagepickin on instagram and facebook to check out the Instagram meet ups for her next events! I was not able to meet her last year but I hope I get to this year!

I hope you get the chance to go! If you do, let me know how your experience was! Be sure to subscribe to the emailing list for updates on new posts! Thanks!
