The Dillard House

Writer's picture: nestledlivingnestledliving

Last year we decided to go horseback riding for the first time as our Christmas gifts to each other. We found the cutest little place in North Georgia called the Dillard House. It was absolutely beautiful and our experience was great! The trip also wasn't too expensive either. We highly recommend going to the Dillard house to go horseback riding or to just experience a quiet little getaway!

What to do: The Dillard house offers many things to do during the day, horseback riding being one of them. You can go with a group of friends or you can join another group. You can also book a private ride but that costs a little bit extra.

1-Hour Scenic Farm Ride: $50 per person

1-Hour River Ride: $55 per person

1.5-Hour River Ride: $70 per person

30-Minute Ride: $35 per person

Private Horseback Ride: $70-$90 depending on which ride you do.

Parent-Led Children Ride: $20 per child

There are also vineyards around the area, but we did not go to any of those. The house is on a little farm so there are animals everywhere you can feed and pet and they are super friendly. There is also a restaurant at the Dillard House and a gift shop. We ate there and bought a few things from the gift shop.

You can also go white water rafting during certain times of the year, fishing, hiking, golfing and there are antique shops in town!

*The antique shops are not open on Sundays!

*If you're a late night kind of person I don't recommend staying here at the Dillard House because the whole town shuts down and there is nothing to do, even if you drive into North Carolina, which we did. I suggest going for a day trip or if you are wanting to stay, stay with a group of people.

When to go: I would suggest going in the spring or late fall when the weather is cooler.

Where to stay: The Dillard House

What to wear: To go horseback riding I would suggest wearing jeans, boots, a long sleeve shirt and a light jacket or sweater. It can get cool when riding.

What to pack: Besides your clothes and toiletries I would suggest packing extra towels, washcloths, tennis shoes, extra clothes to change into after riding, an ipad or laptop to watch a movie at night if you stay or a board game.

Booking Process & Money Saving Tips: We bought our tickets early but it's fairly reasonable to stay at the Dillard House and if you want to save more money, just book your horseback riding trip and drive back home if you're local or stay in another city.

If you go to the Dillard House let me know your experience! I hope you enjoyed this post and happy traveling!!
